Step into the festive magic at Groves Yard

A Relaxed Two-Day Flower Making Retreat with Sophie Longhurst.

Sophie is a paper flower artist, author and experienced florist with a lifelong love of flowers and making.

With a background in floristry, Sophie discovered the joy of recreating the beauty of real flowers in paper. Her work is inspired by nature, with a particular focus on capturing the delicate details, colours, shapes and character that make each flower unique.

Sophie is the author of Crafting Authentic Paper Flowers, sharing her techniques and passion for creating beautifully realistic blooms from paper.

Her workshops are a chance to slow down, get creative and learn the techniques behind making your own beautiful paper flowers. Sophie guides you through each stage in a relaxed and friendly way, sharing her knowledge and plenty of tips along the way.

Whether you’re completely new to paper flowers or already enjoy crafting, her workshops are designed to be enjoyable, accessible and inspiring — and you’ll leave with a handmade flower to be proud of.

Come along, get creative and discover just how magical a simple sheet of paper can be.

27th & 28th November | 10am–4pm

Come and spend two lovely, unhurried days immersed in creativity, learning the art of making beautiful handmade flowers in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Across the two days, we’ll focus on a different flower each day — roses on the 27th and cosmos on the 28th. There will be plenty of time to learn, create and enjoy the process, with gentle guidance throughout.

The days will be a lovely balance of demonstration, making and time to chat, with regular breaks to step away from the table, enjoy a coffee and simply take a little time for yourself.

10am – Arrive & Settle In
We’ll begin with a warm welcome and a relaxed introduction to the day, before getting started with our flower.

Morning – Creating Together
I’ll demonstrate each stage before you have a chance to make your own flower, taking things at a comfortable pace with plenty of individual guidance.

Coffee Break
A chance to pause, enjoy a coffee and have a chat before we continue.

Lunch
We’ll take a relaxed lunch break, giving you plenty of time to step away from your work, recharge and enjoy the day.

Afternoon – Making & Finishing
We’ll continue creating, refining our techniques and adding those finishing touches that bring the flowers to life.

Afternoon Coffee Break
Another little pause before we finish the day.

3.15pm – Finishing Touches & Reflection
We’ll complete our flowers, take a moment to admire what we’ve created and share any final tips and techniques.

4pm – Finish

There’s no need to have any previous experience — just come along ready to slow down, get creative and enjoy some time making something beautiful.

These two days are as much about enjoying the process as they are about the finished flowers: a chance to learn something new, meet like-minded people and have some uninterrupted creative time.
